PROJECT PERFORMANCE

Our team was tasked to review a high-end door to a C-suite office at the Peloton HQ in midtown Manhattan which was never properly secured. The door was a custom made, 2-1/4” thick, single-rabbeted white oak wood door installed into a custom black steel frame with concealed hinges. As beautiful as the door was, it had no locking hardware installed. Additionally, we were tasked to coordinate installation of an access control reader in place of an existing Crestron display fixed into the existing side panel. Adding to the complication was the placement of a fixed pull handle at an awkward backset from the door edge.

Our technical solution involved engineering and building a one-off electro-mechanical lockset with our partner, Accurate Lock & Hardware, which would fit into the existing door. Our team core-drilled the door, installed a power-transfer concealed hinge, mortised a new motorized latch retraction narrow-backset mortise lockset, and high security cylinder. We removed the Crestron tablet, fabricated a custom radius-cornered matte-black aluminum plate, and installed an HID reader connected to the Clients’ Lenel access control system.
